Miss Laura believes that children should find a balance of many activities as they continue to grow, and she encourages dance as one of their selections in life as it builds self-confidence, discipline and a positive outlook. Miss Laura is certified with AFAA, Zumba and Zumbatomic (Zumba for kids). She also teaches Barre fitness classes, and she is an inspiration to both young and old!
Mom, scientist and dance enthusiast, Dr. Maloney (Mrs. Sandy) grew up in West Texas in a ranching family. She earned a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Texas A&M University (Go Aggies!), and moved to the Bay Area with her husband, Dave, 20 years ago. Mrs. Sandy worked as a research group leader at Lawrence Livermore National Lab for over 10 years, and she is the author of numerous scientific articles, book chapters and patents (published as Sandra McCutchen-Maloney).
She has always enjoyed many forms of dance, especially the Texas two-step, salsa and the waltz, and she is thrilled to be a student in adult classes at Expressions. Raising her three daughters and supporting their dance activities has been very rewarding, and she is happy to begin a new chapter in her life as an owner and the Business Director of Expressions. As a mother first, Mrs. Sandy knows the importance of a quality dance education that is fun and encouraging for all students, and that allows time for a healthy balance of family, school, community and the arts.
