1) What Does My Child Wear To Class?

Dancers should have proper attire and shoes for their style of dance.
    - Ballet shoes, leotard, tights, hair in a bun for all ballet classes.
    - For other classes, hair away from face, comfortable top and dance/yoga shorts.
    - Jazz shoes for jazz, contemporary, lyrical and hip hop classes.
    - Tap shoes for tap classes.
    - Flat bottomed shoes such as Vans or Converse also approved for hip hop.

Twirling Tots should wear ballet shoes. Leotard and tights recommended. A dress with ballet shoes is appropriate for first Tots class.
You do not need to purchase shoes or dance clothing from us. Encore, a dance store in Dublin, carries a great selection. Please let them know you are from Expressions so they can help fit you with the shoes we recommend (reasonable combination of quality and price). Target also carries dance leotards for younger dancers. We have a "leave a pair - take a pair" basket in the lobby - a great way to recycle gently used dance shoes. You are welcome to borrow any shoes that fit.

2) Does my child have to be in a recital?

No. We offer recital and non-recital classes; and 3 levels of dance commitment. Recreational Dance includes non-recital classes that feature small in-studio performances for family in December and May. Includes the same level of instruction as other classes.Performance Dance classes have seasonal performances in the studio and perform on stage at our formal recital in June. Recital costume is required. Recital is a fun celebration of a year of dance accomplishments. Dance Team classes are for dancers interested in additional performance opportunities at dance competitions, talent shows, local events, as well as our formal recital. Dancers must audition for Team and have required classes in addition to Team classes.

3) Can my child take a free trial class?

Yes. We offer a free trial class for new students, in classes with available space. Please email to set up your trial class. ***based on available space in class***

4) How do I pay tuition?

We accept Visa, Mastercard, checks, cash and PayPal. Our on-line accounting system accepts credit cards with an auto-pay feature. There is a pink drop-box in the lobby for checks and a PayPal button on our website, under the Tuition tab, for easy on-line payment.

5) Is dance a year-round commitment?

Only if you want to dance for the entire year. We offer classes from September - June, and we also have a short summer session. There is no long-term commitment; however, space is limited in classes and we cannot save a space for your dancer if you take a break during the school year.
Please note, we plan classes based on enrollment, and require a 2-week notice to drop a class.

6) When is your recital?

Our 2018 recitals will be June 23rd (Sat only) at Dublin High School Center for Performing Arts.

Expressions was selected as the 2015 Best Business of Pleasanton in the category of Dance Schools. In 2016, Expressions was awarded the "Studio Excellence" award from Next Level Dance Competition for showing exemplary leadership, kindness, sacrifice and patience within the studio and the community.

Expressions instructors have received awards for motivating, challenging and inspiring their students, and for demonstrating excellence in education in the arts.

At Expressions, all students receive high-quality dance instruction from experienced staff. We offer classes in jazz, ballet, tap, hip hop, musical theater, lyrical, contemporary and fusions of these styles.

We feature Recreational Dance Classes with in-studio seasonal performances, Recital Dance Classes with seasonal in-studio performances and a performance at our formal recital in June, and a Competition Dance Team that performs at Bay Area dance competitions and talent contests as well as local Pleasanton events and at our annual June recital.

Expressions promotes an appreciation of dance and the arts in an encouraging environment. Our goal is to help all students reach their maximum dance potential and for parents to enjoy their child's dance journey. Expressions Dance & Arts looks forward to being part of that journey.
